The very 1st THING we had to tackle was “M
and M’s” TARGET MARKET--which they were fairly
clear on: couples with children in elementary school. When a client is
working with parents, I always have them determine the
age of the KIDS….because challenges and needs are different
for parents with, say, preschoolers
than for parents with high school-age kids. M and M knew that the greatest
financial pressure (and therefore the greatest need for their services) come when
a couple has been married several years—or when their kids are in elementary school.
Knowing
the financial phase their market is in—by
the age of their kids—helps us determine 2
things as we move forward:
#1B: We uncover the “deep
psychology” of their target market!
Most marketing consultants only cover the BASICS with target market.
With M and M, I ask questions they have never considered before
about these couples.
We put
their market through a powerful psychological process I call the “trigger
event”—that deeply examines why someone in a particular market
finally goes in search of help.
Understanding
the deep
psychology of one’s market is the difference between a business

letters of introduction; flyers, postcards, homepage copy; etc.

WORDING for Promotional Pieces!
Next, we zero-in
on the different wording they need for each promotional piece. I am
the Brain Sticky language expert, after all,
and I give them precise words to
use to capture and keep interest and create the impulse to ACT!
#10: I give them a word-for-word SCRIPT!
The
7th session is GOLDEN. We
tear the lid off the traditional definition of consulting as I GIVE
M and M exact words to speak at their signature program. I give
